FREE Homeschool Workshops and a day at the beach! August 20 - 24, 2012 / 9:30 - 10:30am
Attention Homeschool families! We are committed to family, and we know you are committed to your family, so we have put together some very special workshops that we feel will be a help encourage you as you follow the biblical model of "training up your children". We encourage you to come and bring your children and enjoy the beautiful natural setting on Lake Michigan after the workshop!
Children's and Youth programming for all ages is available from 9:30- 12:00pm, and includes Bible teaching, games, crafts, and lots of fun!
Following the Homeschool Workshops you are also invited to attend Maranatha's Sessions featuring Stuart and Jill Briscoe and Open Doors Ministry from 10:45-12:00pm!
The workshop and children's programming is free. If you are driving in for the day, a "day pass" is available to use the beach, playgrounds, volleyball, mini-golf, shuffleboard, canoes and kayaks, pickleball, tennis, basketball, and enjoyment of the beautiful setting that is Maranatha is $3 per person or $15 for a family. Please note: the day pass does NOT include use of the pool, climbing tower and zipline. Lunch and snack's are available throughout the afternoon in our Sweet Shop!

About Valerie: Valerie McDaniel home educated all three of her children from birth; now 28, 25, and 22 years-one is a music teacher, the other a dance instructor and the youngest, a college student. Valerie and her husband have been married 29 years, and have spent those years in full time ministry with Youth For Christ and now Moriah Ministies (an outreach to GVSU student athletes in Allendale, MI). Valerie is the founder and conference coordinator for Mid-Winter Conference for Home Educators as well as Community Coffee: Special Edition, a ministry to home educating mom with special needs children.

Kandy Groll

Title of Workshop: "Finish Strong!" The high school years can be a challenging time for home school families. Many parents begin to feel inadequate at this time to continue their home education. In this session Kandy will speak on the home schooling experience during the high school years and will encourage parents that they can do it! About Kandy: Kandy and her husband Tony are the parents of three children, a daughter and two sons. They have homeschool for 18 years. Kandy's passion is to support and encourage parents to continue homeschooling throughout the high school years. ____________________________________________________
Linda Nikkel

Title of Workshop: "Developmental Stages K-12th And How They Affect The Learning Process"
About Linda: Linda earned a BA from Calvin College in elementary education and a MA in Counseling Education Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan. She left her teaching position in the public schools to home school her own children. Her and her husband home schooled their two daughters from K-12th grades. Since their youngest daughter graduated in 2006, Linda has dedicated her time and energy to promoting home education. Linda works as a private educational counselor and consultant offering achievement, cognitive abilities, and neuropsychological testing. Linda's mission is to help home school families grow in confidence, be encouraged and experience greater freedom.
