Beginning July 5, Pine Rest will display a selection of Michael P. Stewart's oil paintings. The exhibit will be located in the Postma Center Leep Art Gallery at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services, 300 68th Street, Grand Rapids.

Stewart's primary medium is oil on canvas, and the style of painting he has developed over the years can be described as semi-realistic impressionism. His favorite subjects to paint have been landscapes, waterscapes, and portraits of life in the Great Lakes Region. Although a native of Philadelphia, Pa. Stewart has lived in Michigan since his college days.

His paintings have taken the first place "People's Choice Award" at both the 2010 and 2011 Tulip Time Art Show, sponsored by Holland Friends of Art, and his work was also displayed in the prestigious ArtPrize 2010 competition in Grand Rapids. His paintings have been in several public exhibits and hang in several private collections throughout North America.

The exhibit at Pine Rest will run July 5 until October 2, 2012. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additional times are available by appointment. There is no admission fee. For more information, please call 616/222-4530.
