SUMMARY:Shakespeare's BARD ON THE RUN: MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING
DESCRIPTION:The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company\, Michigan&rsquo\;s only year-round\, touring Shakespeare company\, will present the latest in its Bard on the Run Series on October 13-16 at the Dog Story Theater\, 7 Jefferson SE in Grand Rapids. Much Ado About Nothing will play October 13-15 at 8:00 p.m. and October 16 at 3:00 p.m. Pigeon Creek Executive Director Katherine Mayberry explained that Bard on the Run is an experiment with the rehearsal processes of Shakespeare&rsquo\;s own time period. &ldquo\;Shakespeare&rsquo\;s acting companies didn&rsquo\;t have the lengthy rehearsal periods that we do in modern theatrical productions. The actors sometimes learned and performed new plays in the course of 5 or 6 days.&rdquo\; They might also have had to revive plays already in the repertoire at the drop of a hat\, if\, for example\, Queen Elizabeth I requested that a particular play be performed at court. &ldquo\;This second scenario is what we are recreating with Bard on the Run\,&rdquo\; said Mayberry. Pigeon Creek last performed Much Ado About Nothing in 2006\, and several actors will reprise roles that they have played before\, but many of the actors will also be performing roles that are new to them. The actors will memorize their lines\, and then rehearse for just two days before performing the play. Much Ado About Nothing is a Shakespearean battle of the sexes\, whose plot revolves around Beatrice and Benedick\, whose constant bickering makes their friends conclude that they must be in love. Beatrice&rsquo\;s cousin Hero\, Benedick&rsquo\;s friend Claudio\, and several other characters plot to get Beatrice and Benedick to reveal their love to each other. Meanwhile\, the plotting of the evil Don John threatens to ruin the upcoming wedding of Hero and Claudio. The cast of Pigeon Creek&rsquo\;s production includes Kathleen Bode\, Heather Folkvord\, Brooke Heintz\, Kat Hermes\, Scott Lange\, Patrick Kepley\, Duncan McCarger\, Owen McIntee\, Joel Schindlbeck\, Sarah Stark\, and Scott Wright. All proceeds from these performances go to support Pigeon Creek&rsquo\;s winter tour of The Taming of the Shrew. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors\, $15 for adults. Tickets are available at www.dogstorytheater.com.\n______________________________\nThis Event Downloaded From a Helios Calendar Powered Site
