Gerald R. Ford Airport has announced that Southwest Airlines will be flying in and out of Grand Rapids beginning in August, 2013.

IT'S OFFICIAL! Southwest Airlines is bringing their branded service to GFIA beginning August 11, 2013. On that date, they will convert existing AirTran service over to Southwest AND they are expanding service by introducing nonstops to Denver and St. Louis. Operating six flights per day, they are doubling the current frequency. Southwest also operates slightly larger aircraft, which will increase seat capacity by 156 seats per day over current AirTran service.

Flights can be booked now on the Southwest website (www.southwest.com) with fare sales available from today through February 17.
