2012 MACRA Championship Rowing Regatta

The 48th MACRA (Mid-American Collegiate Rowing Association) Championship Regatta will be held at Comstock Riverside Park on the Grand River in Grand Rapids on Saturday, April 28th, 2012.

The Grand River is one of the greatest venues in the Midwest for a rowing regatta. The straight 2000 meter, partially buoyed course is downstream and is not affected by boat traffic. A bicycle path follows the length of the course and there is ample space for parking and viewing the entire race along this course.

The Grand Rapids Rowing Association (LOC) and West Michigan Sports Commission are honored to host this important event. Widespread community support has resulted in a new dock, new course, and regatta equipment, and will help Grand Rapids bring even bigger and better rowing events to town.

The MACRA Regatta was founded in the spring of 1965 by the Purdue University Crew Club to foster rowing in the Midwest. Since the founding of the Association, the regatta has moved throughout the Midwest. In 2012, we expect 25-30 college teams to compete at the regatta, bringing 1,500 - 2,000 athletes and up to 1,000 spectators to the park. Come be part of the excitement at this unique event!
