LaughFest Attempt to Break World Record

The nation's only community-wide festival of laughter, Gilda's LaughFest, which includes 266 events on 62 stages, has announced plans to kick off this year's festival by holding several community events on Thursday, March 8, including setting a new Guinness World Record. This year's record will be for the largest gathering of people who are wearing animal noses – specifically, chicken beaks. Following the community kickoff, several area restaurants and bars will be holding special LaughFest chicken dinner specials, free opening night parties and comedy preview shows.

Last year, 925 rubber chickens were tossed in Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids shattering the previous record of 265, set near Boston, Mass. There is no current record for the greatest number of people wearing animal noses at a single venue.  Individuals wishing to help set the record will be provided with an officialLaughFest chicken beak.  Individuals bringing a rubber chicken with them will be entered into a random prize drawing for LaughFest tickets and merchandise. To celebrate the record-setting event, participants will have the opportunity to dance the chicken dance to live polka music by The Diddlestyx.
