Cascade Goodwill GroundbreakingGoodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids, Inc. will break ground on its third LEED focused retail store on February 16 at 8:30 am in Cascade Township (Kraft & 28th near Meijer). This marks the third Goodwill Store in Michigan to be LEED Certified. "We evaluated the demographics and influence of our customers when choosing a location for another Goodwill Store," said Chief Marketing and Communications Officer Jill Wallace. "We are excited to have a presence in the Cascade community to provide affordable retail options. Now more than ever, Goodwill is in need of donations. With our mission based programs of assisting people with barriers to employment through job training and placement, the call for donations is great." The Cascade Goodwill Store, scheduled to open in summer 2012, will feature a similar design to the Rockford Store that opened in May 2011. The build-out with Pinnacle Construction Group will follow Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) commissioned components. Guidelines will be followed in building products, energy usage, water usage, and more. Proceeds from Goodwill Stores help fund employment and placement programs for individuals with barriers to employment.
