Michigan Pirate Festival
August 6th - 12th, 2012 Michigan Pirate FestivalAnnual Event Location: Grand Haven Central Park & Surrounding Areas Website: www.MichiganPirateFestival.com ![]() Pirates traditionally begin their battles firing broadside from their ships at their prey to which they will pillage and plunder. Grand Haven's pirates will do the same except for the location and maybe the pillaging and plundering is for fun.
The 6th annual Michigan Pirate Festival, August 6-12 in Grand Haven, Michigan, features a loud blast on the first day as black powder specialist, Tony Osterberg once again fires a time-period cannon and small arms in the city's Central Park on August 8 at 6:00 p.m. This demonstration will be repeated, Wednesday, August 8 at the same time.
Library officials send a warning to the public of the blast and no one should be alarmed even though the shots will be quite loud. People are encouraged to attend, but stay at a safe distance. The Brethren pirates will act as security in the park. Officials believe this shot will be heard around the Grand Haven area.
Other events sponsored Loutit District Library (LDL) and Brethren of the Great Lakes brings the history of the golden age of pirates to life as re-enactors from all over the Midwest present a week's worth of activities geared from kids to adults at the library, downtown and Central Park.
