Grand Rapids, MI - A hot spot has come to 53 Monroe Center in the arrival of Vitamin D Tanning January 4. Jeff and Tammy Rider will be celebrating the opening of their specialty salon with prizes, give-aways, and a ribbon cutting officiated by Commissioner Rosalynn Bliss.

Within the past three months Jeff and Tammy have turned an empty storefront that last served as an ArtPrize venue into first-class tanning salon with 10 rooms currently offering 7 tanning beds and 2 stand-ups with levels 1 and 2 tanning. Vitamin D Tanning is not your ordinary tanning salon, for it specializes in smart and moderate tanning. "We want to promote the positive effects of tanning and the benefit of vitamin D," explains Tammy. To do so, the salon will also focus on educating its clients on how vitamin D though tanning can help live healthier lives. For example, how it can prevent certain cancers, balance serotonin and melatonin for better sleep, and aid in the prevention of osteoporosis onset.
 
For Jeff and Tammy Rider, both Downtown employees of Blue Cross Blue Shield, Downtown Grand Rapids was an easy choice to start their business: "We work Downtown, spend our time Downtown, and love the area." Vitamin D tanning will be specifically marketing to Downtown professionals who can stop in during lunch, or before or after work. Regarding the services they plan to offer: "We've had a lot of positive feedback from people who work and live Downtown."

As for the experience of actually setting-up shop here in Grand Rapids, Jeff was "pleasingly surprised from the kindness and help that people have put forth, even our landlord, Rockford Development. We have great neighbors-really good people."
